History

The Bible Truth Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Incorporated (BTAPC, Inc.) was founded by Bishop Jimmy R. Smith. The Bible Truth church symbol was revealed to Bishop Smith in 1985 while stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. The church theme is “Bible-Believing, Teaching and Praying Church,” taken from ll Timothy 2:15 which emphasizes studying and becoming knowledgeable of the Word of God. Studying and teaching the Word of God is the main focus of the Bible Truth ministry.

The origination of the church began in 1986 with a home Bible Class at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. The first attendees were the Smith and Hughes families. Due to rapid increase in attendance, God blessed a door to be opened at the Main Post Chapel at Fort Devens.

In January, 1988 Bishop Smith and his family relocated to Augsburg, Germany on a military assignment. There, God provided Bishop Smith the opportunity to hold services in the Hospital Chapel. God blessed the church to remain active during the 3 ½ years tour in Germany. The Smith family returned back to Fort Devens in July, 1991.

The church was incorporated in Boston, Massachusetts on January 6, 1993. Throughout Bishop Smith’s military career, God blessed the church doors to be opened in several places for the ministry: Augsburg, Germany; Shirley, Massachusetts; and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Since then, doors were opened in Fayetteville and in Raleigh, North Carolina. The present location is in Raleigh.

The first BTAPC Convention was held in August, 1992 at Antioch Temple in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The convention has since been held in several other states to include Maryland, Alabama and North Carolina. It is now headquartered in Raleigh.

Many lives have been touched and blessed abundantly through the Bible Truth ministry. Souls have been baptized in Jesus Name and have been filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. We continue to look for higher heights and deeper depths for the Bible Truth ministry.

To God be the Glory for what He has done, for what He is now doing, and for the plans that He has for the future of this ministry. However God lead and direct our path, we shall continue to praise and magnify the wonderful Name of Jesus, for He is worthy to be praised.
